Borgild and Kaija lead Northgard Battlegrounds’ new Bear clan
Funday’s village-building auto-battler is out in Early Access, with four clans and 41 new Loki cards.
Borgild has company on the battlefield: Kaija, an armoured bear who fights alongside her as a second warchief. The pair lead the Bear clan in Northgard Battlegrounds, released on Steam in Early Access on October 27.
Funday Games’ Northgard spin-off combines village construction with asynchronous battles against other players. Each round, you place buildings and develop your economy, then your warband fights automatically. Economic buildings produce more near resources; you recruit warriors through military structures and summon creatures at mythical sites. Your arrangements affect the army you send into combat.
Bear is the fourth playable clan, alongside Stag, Raven and Wolf. With Borgild and Kaija, you can field two warchiefs early in a run, supported by armour-focused clan skills, regeneration and Frost effects that slow enemies. The launch patch also added Kaija’s Den, Winter Festival and the Scabbard of Gram.
Loki is available as a fourth god, with 41 new cards and a Transform mechanic. At the start of each run, you receive a random selection of three gods; the one your clan already has favour with is guaranteed. The developers also reset the ranked leaderboard for launch.
