Minecraft’s fourth dimension and a cushion monorail

The Sift arrives in Java and Bedrock in 2027. September’s Minecraft Live also featured ice caves, a frozen zombie and an unexpected use for soft furnishings.

Next stop: the Sift

Minecraft Live’s September 26 showcase revealed the Sift, a fourth dimension joining the Overworld, Nether and End in Java and Bedrock in 2027. It’s the first addition to that list in more than fourteen years.

The Sift also features in Minecraft Dungeons II, where rifts lead into regions including the Meadow and the Carapace. One sounds like a picnic spot. The other sounds considerably less inviting.

The cushions have other plans

Mojang showed community builds turning cushions into a monorail, pillars and ladders. A perfectly reasonable furnishing, immediately drafted into infrastructure.

A cushion railway raises an urgent design question. Do the passengers get seats, or is the entire railway already a seat?

Underground gets colder

The next game drop brings ice caves with calcite, ceiling icicles and glowing ice crystals. A frozen zombie variant adds a freezing effect to its attacks; some throw ice balls. Stocking the place with hostile snowball enthusiasts seems a little harsh when the cave is already freezing.
