Mike Tomlin opens his twelve-year Minecraft city

A waterfront hotel, aquarium apartments and a surprisingly thorough approach to public bathrooms.

Mike Tomlin’s first Minecraft building was a waterfront boutique hotel. It has a spa, a ballroom with a glass ceiling and a basement speakeasy whose window looks into the swimming pool. The public restrooms have sinks and stalls. He planned those too.

The former Pittsburgh Steelers coach unveiled the city on September 30 in the first episode of his YouTube tour. He has been working on it for more than twelve years, after getting into Creative mode with his children. His son Dino persuaded him to share it and handles the videos.

Across from the city aquarium, an apartment tower carries the theme indoors: tanks run through its residences, including the rooftop penthouse. Other apartments overlook baseball and soccer stadiums. Tomlin returned to early buildings to add more elaborate rooftop homes as his interest in interiors grew.

The riverside district required some heavier landscaping. Hills and mountains were blown up to make room for dense housing around the water. Even in Creative mode, the waterfront property market is brutal.
